STOP RAINING

Venezuela hasn't stopped raining. The rain has caused so much damage to the city and mostly in the rural areas. School have been closed for over a week, and won't be able to finish the school year; having said that, me being a Venezuelan I feel the need to help those that need help. Yesterday I went with my mom to by dippers, cookies, cereal and other things. We will take them today to places that are called "centros de acopios" which are places that refugees go and ask for help. It feels so good to help these people that need a lot of help. But at the same time we can’t have finals, or finish are semester because of the rain. Hope it stops raining.

SISTERS

My sister M is the most important person in my life. We have a very unique relationship. Our sister bonding revolves in a love-hate relationship. Even though we fight a lot I care a lot for her. For the past year and a half it’s been hard, since she went to college. She is studying in Georgetown University and loves it, even though she misses home most of the time. M has a very “weird” personality, she likes to make everyone around her happy but she doesn’t make herself happy. I know it’s weird, but I still love her. She just came here to Venezuela for thanksgiving break, but I didn’t get to see her as much as I would’ve wanted to. My mom and my sister are really close, like me and my dad. They usually bond against me which isn’t cool. M and me do many things together, we tell each other everything, we watch Gossip Girl, we paint our nails, and mostly criticize. My sister and me have a huge defect which makes us even more special. We love to criticize people, things, and gossip. I can’t wait to see her in December. I miss you M.

My Favorite Place in the World

My favorite place in the whole world is a small island called Mallorca; Mallorca is in Spain. I’ve spent my summers in Mallorca most of my life. We have a family house that the grandfather of my grandmother left her. This place is magical; the house is situated in a bay with other houses. The other homes have children that have gone to Mallorca for their whole life like me, so we all know each other. My most valuable memories and experiences are stored in that small island. What do we do on our daily routine in Mallorca? Well we wake up around 9:30 and have breakfast. One of my favorite things about this house is the food, my grandmother is very strict with food, and they cook really well. After having breakfast, I generally go out and tan for a while and read in the sun. At around 12 we have a small snack which is called “aperitivo” a aperitivo is a small snack between breakfast and lunch. Around this time many friends of my parents and come over to the house and go for a swim in the sea. Lunch is late; we have lunch at about 3:30. After lunch w (kids) are supposed to have a nap, JA JA JA we all escape from the house to the Hotel of the bay that is open to anyone that lives in the bay. Here at the beach we meet up with all the kids from the other houses and go on jet skis, or to water skiing, or even go out on boat to other bays. All the kids from the bay are supposed to be at their house at around 7-8. In summer time in Mallorca there is sun light until around 9. So dinner is also late, dinner is served at around 10. Sometimes us kids go down to town to have dinner, and hang around by the beach. Mallorca is my favorite place and I enjoy it so much.

Experience of a Life Time at LAS

This summer I went to LAS, Leysin American School. I didn’t go by my-self; I went with my best friend V and with other friends. We all decided to go because V was moving to Costa Rica and we wanted to go somewhere with here before she would leave. We had an amazing time, and met people from all over the world. I took a course of French, Guitar, Improvisation, and Advanced photography. I think my favorite course was photography, because I won the “Best Photographer on Campus Award.” Going to LAS was a wonderful experience not only meeting people from different places such as Germany, Brazil, US, Russia, Kuwait, Colombia, Mexico, and many more, but also going to new places. We got a chance to go to Interlaken where one of the 7 wonders of the world is. They are waterfalls, that were amazing, and I got my piercing done there. We also went to Aosta, which is a very small town in the borders on Italy and Switzerland. In Aosta we saw the match when Brazil was disqualified from the World Cup which was the highlight of the day, and we had the best Gelato I have ever had. Another place we went to was Montreau, in Montreau we saw the Music Festival which is very famous, and we went into the lake it was so much fun. Apart from all the excursions we did on weekends I also got the chance to do some fun activities in camp such as: participating in the comedy, and the musical. Participating in both productions was a huge honor. I also got the chance to do rafting which was a bit risky but so much fun. I will never forget this summer; I had the time of my life, and hope to go back.

The Last Song

The book I've most enjoyed reading recently was  Last Song, by Nicholas Sparks. I read this book with my two best friends C and I while my grade was on the Washington trip. We had a lot of time to read. I think this is a reason why I enjoyed this book so much. We had hours to read and I enjoyed reading it with patience and calmness. The Last Song is a romantic and sad story. This story talks about the story of Ronnie's summer at her father house. She didn’t want to go from the beginning; her father left her and her brother that broke her heart. Living with her dad for a whole summer lead her to connect again with her father, and find true love. I managed to finish the book before seeing the movie. After seeing the movie I realized how I enjoyed the book much more than the movie. The book was much more detailed, and more exiting. I recommend this book to people who have trouble reading because it’s a book that is not hard to read at all. I found this book a bit slow, it took some time for the author to get to the point. Which means, I don’t recommend this book to any one who doesn’t like slow books. I really like reading Sparks book and plan on reading another one for silent reading.

Human Rights

Recently there was a suicide of three kids in the US that killed themselves. They killed themselves because they were bullied because they were gay. Should children have the right to be gay? And choose there own decision? Yes. Children and adolescents should be able to choose to be gay or straight. If one has the right to choose the religion they'll follow why shouldn't humans have the right to choose their life partners. Human rights is a major general issue all over the world. The MUN model united nation is fighting for peace and rights in many places around the world. Some issues are: the right to be gay, women's rights, racism, and many others. In my school we are learning to tolerate different people. This should be shown in other schools

Perspective

I feel unheard, in a way that I just don’t feel them. I don’t feel them really hearing me. They don’t understand my need; they expect something from me which I’m not able to give them. I feel unnecessary, I feel that me is not there me. In other words, they want me to be who I’m not. Take things seriously, things which I don’t really care about, and the things that I care about are just things they don’t. Why do I realize this now? I’ve felt this my whole life. Felt like if she was always better, she was always used to be compared to me. Feeling the pressure to be like her blocked me from trying hard to persist to my dreams, keep on fighting for what I believe in and most importantly be myself. Why do I always feel the need to satisfy the rest? How come I never do things for me? Before I do any type of task I think about them, I think about making them happy trying to be who they want me to be. Yes off course they always use the excuse that its always for my well-being, that they always try to do the best for me. But has it ever crossed their minds that maybe my happiness in some cases might matter, and might even be more important than their priorities. What type of soup have they used to make this bubble, this bubble that I’ve tried to pop and run out of, but it’s just not possible? Something is not letting me, and that is them. Will they ever be more understanding? Will they ever be happy with who I am? Will they ever be satisfied for the things I do? Or might I just give up, and became a follower, a follower who is not a leader. A follower who pertain to orders, and is easily swept and pressured by the crowd? Someone who won’t make an impact in life? Is that who you want me to be?

Friends

What are friends for? A friend is someone you can count on, whether its something good or bad. They should always support you on what you do, even though they might not agree with it. Friends should tell each other everything, they should have the ability to trust one another. Friends should always help each other and make the right decisions even though one might not think its a right choice. Having friends is the best quality one has. Meeting friends all over the world is great, I met many people in camp from all over the world, and I still keep in contact with them. Talking to your mom is not the same as talking to your best girl friend. For example I tell everything to my best friends they are twins, and I know that they will always be there for me, and they know I'll be there for them. Having male friends is also a good idea. If you have a problem with a boy friend they can help you on advice, and on things that girls might not think about. Having friends is ideal for a great future. Each other we'll lead us through a path of success and peace.

Chao Venezuela

Its really hitting me now, having to leave my country is going to be harder than what I thought. Venezuela's the most amazing place. The people are extremely sociable, and there are really nice places to go visit like the beaches. I've lived in this wonderful place all my life and I'm proud of being a Venezuelan. It makes me who I am. Not only having to leave Venezuela, but leaving C and I. that’s going to be the biggest challenge of all. They are my two "twins",  my two best friends. Apart from them leaving my mom and dad. Leaving my mom and dad here is going to be hard,  leaving my bed, my home, home-made food, and  my school. My school is quite important to me, it contains many valuable memories, and its showed me to be a complete different person. The preparation of applying to an independent/ boarding school is very hard. I need to study for the SSAT's which are really hard. Not only that but researching each school I'm applying to is also difficult. I need to have a base of knowledge before my interview. I just had one interview and it was pretty challenging. Is there someone out there that could help me with what I should expect from a Prep-school interview?

Meet Me

Hi I'm F. I live in Venezuela, and I'm originally from here. This is my 5th year in an American school. My English teacher is making us write blogs.  Let me talk to you guys a little about me.
Let’s start off with, I love my country, and I'm planning on moving to a boarding school, which kind of sucks, but I guess I'll still have a great time. The boarding schools I'm applying are in the US and one in Switzerland, but I would prefer to go to one in the US to be closer to my parents that will stay here in Caracas, and my sister who is studying in Georgetown University in Washington. I really enjoy meeting new people, and I'm not afraid of taking any type of risks. I take my studies very seriously; I try to do my best academically which might not always is accomplished. The subjects that I most enjoy are Math and Social Studies. I get extremely annoyed by hypocritical people, and when I don’t manage my time wisely. When I don’t manage my time I usually get stressed when I have a lot of work to do in a small amount of time. I also majorly dislike my president. I dedicate a lot of time to extracurricular activities, which include: theater, singing, guitar, soccer, piano and tennis, which I do on a weekly basis.  I love acting, which maybe in some cases is not the best, because my teachers might say I'm a bit too dramatic, but I usually try to keep it on stage. Apart from these, I have also been involved in helping organize charity events, and have helped out in fashion shows for three years in a row. I’m a very open and social person. I love hanging out with my friends mostly C, I, and V. Unfortunately V moved, but I still keep in contact with her.
I’m not quite sure on what I’m planning to write on this blog. I don’t think I’m going to have a constant theme on each post I put on my weekly blog, but I promise I’ll try to make it somewhat entertaining. I’m looking forward to writing about topics and ideas that will interest others.
